Subject: Update

Hi Dave,

I thought it would be too late to call but wanted to give you an update.

Can you please let everyone know (on your blog site) that their prayers are starting to work. My dad was taken off the ventilator this afternoon. The surgeon has not planned any immediate surgeries and at this point believes the antibiotics are doing their job and will continue to fight the infection away. He is stable and slowly being taken off the sedative. We got to speak with him briefly tonight, but he is still weak and needs to rest up and heal. He did have enough strength to hold the tv remote control... that is a good sign.

Obviously dad is not completely out of the woods yet, the infection is still present, so continued prayers are greatly appreciated.

And can you please thank everyone for their wonderful email messages. I have just printed them out and will read them to dad tomorrow. The support, love and prayers are being felt and it helps. And all of the offers for lodging and transportation have been great. At the moment we are ok in the hotel across the street, but may contact some people if we are here for a longer period of time.

Thank you Dave for keeping everyone up to date. I will be in touch tomorrow.
